DON Bigg, whose real name is Taoufik Hazeb, was born in 1983 in Casablanca. He is considered one of the pioneers of Moroccan rap, particularly for his frank, raw and direct style, and for the themes of his songs, very close to the concerns of a large segment of Moroccan urban youth. DON Bigg grew up in a middle-class Casablanca family. Very early on he realizes that his success depends only on him. He then decides to fight on two fronts. First the studies. Indeed, at the age of 17, DON Bigg obtained a scientific baccalaureate, then enrolled at the Faculty of Law in Mohammedia. After 3 successful years at the Faculty, he decided to put his legal career on hold and devoted himself fully to his passion: Rap. DonBigg began his musical journey at the age of 14. He then sang only in English and went through 4 rap groups until he found his way in 1999: rap in Darija. It was with the group MAFIA C that he realized his new vocation and was quickly propelled to the forefront. Aware of his success and acclaimed by a large part of the youth and national and international independent media, DON Bigg went solo and produced his first album entitled: Mgharba ‘tal Mout. The success of the album is phenomenal. While he only distributes 1,000 copies (free), thousands of the album's titles are downloaded on the Internet and the public knows the lyrics by heart at each of his performances.
